It was a pleasure working with Abid during his time supporting pi-top. His organisation and project planning skills are second to none and greatly helped to remove the chaos that can be hardware development.

The project included:
 

  • Co-ordinating with pi-top's R&D team to manufacture the pi-top [4], Robotics Kit and Screen & Keyboard bundle 
     

  • On-site visits to 50+ factories in China to secure a new final assembly facility and appropriate metal, plastic and battery sub-suppliers

  • Full Quality Control review of the pi-top [3]'s electronic design, mechanical design and factory's production processes

  • Regularly updating the pi-top Senior Management Team on the status of the project with supporting documentation and Gannt Charts. 

 

  • Thoroughly validating the products using best practices through Engineering Validation Testing (EVT), Design Validation Testing (DVT) and Production Validation Testing (PVT)
     

  • Facilitate CE, FCC, CALI 65 & ROHS Certification on the product range - ensuring it is safe for schools to use within a classroom setting.

Achievements:

Planned and managed a full product migration from one final-assembly factory to another factory to facilitate pi-top's growing order book 
 
Created a full Quality Control strategy that was  adopted by the supply chain through regular training sessions, documentation and on-site Quality Control inspections - reduced External Quality Issues from 3% to 0.5%

Validated the product range using best practices through Engineering Validation Testing (EVT), Design Validation Testing (DVT) and Production Validation Testing (PVT)

Carried out CE, FCC, CALI 65 & ROHS Certification on the product range

Established a new supply chain within China - enabling their products to be mass-produced at a reasonable cost, competitive MOQ and a 2 month delivery lead time. 

Created a mass-production quote for 2000, 5000 and 10 000 units.
